Peacekeeping and conflict prevention are at the very heart of United Nations’ efforts to promote stability, security and sustainable peace. With more than 120,000 personnel  in some of the most difficult places on earth, the new face of peacekeeping includes a host of professionally and geographically diverse individuals all working together to protect the vulnerable and nurture a fragile peace.

Join the United Nations Association Southern New York State Division, the UNA-USA Young Professionals of Southern New York, the UNA Council of Organizations and the UN Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support to learn about these important efforts.

About the Film:  “The War Against War” takes an in-depth look at United Nations Peacekeeping Operations around the world.

The film answers questions such as “why peacekeeping?” and “what are the challenges?” The documentary focuses particularly closely on the work of the UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti and shows how peacekeepers responded to the devastating earthquake in January 2010.
