Registration Open for 2011 Mid-Atlantic Conference / UNA Members Day at the UN

UNA-USA has opened registration for the Mid-Atlantic Conference / UNA Members Day at the UN.

WHAT:  This is the first UNA-USA Members Day at the United Nations following our strategic alliance with the United Nations Foundation.It is also the third Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference at the UN, and is organized by a planning committee from New York and New Jersey. 

WHO IS INVITED:  UNA-USA Chapters and Divisions, Council of Organizations members, other Non-Governmental Organizations with an interest in the UN, potential members, faculty, and students are all invited to this debut event!  If you are not a member already, please consider joining online today when you register.

WHERE AND WHEN:  UN headquarters. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.   Even if you already have a UN pass, you need to register on-line to receive a Conference pass.  Details will follow after you register. 

COST:   Registration is free of charge, but we encourage you to join UNA-USA if you are not already a member.  Help strengthen the foreign policy and educational work of UNA-USA.

SCOPE:   Invited keynote speakers include Under-Secretary-General Michelle Bachelet, UN Women; Under-Secretary-General Cheikh Sidi Diarra, Special Adviser on Africa (confirmed); Kathy Calvin, CEO of the United Nations Foundation, and Edward Elmendorf, Executive Director of UNA-USA at the UN Foundation (confirmed).  The Conference will include panels with notable speakers on “Energy and Climate Change,” “New Dimensions in Health, Gender, and Development,” “Africa’s Transformation in the 21 Century: Capturing its Economic Dynamism,” and “Afghanistan: Is a Negotiated Settlement Possible?” Each panel will have time for Q’s and A’s.

A lunchtime panel on “Navigating Your Path towards a Successful Career in International Affairs” features speakers on careers in international development, international law, and international finance.

Also at lunchtime, Chapter and Division leaders will have a chance to meet informally to discuss chapter and membership building.
